Stewart Francis Easton approaches his work with a commitment to simplicity, repetition and geometric abstraction. Working across media – fiber quilts and stitchwork, paintings and drawings, sculpture and collage – he achieves a singularity of purpose: freeing the viewer from the tyranny of narrative (or perhaps less hyperbolically, freed from the preconceptions that come with implied narrative). Employing bold colors and repetitive gesture his work unfolds gently, turning and returning without losing its freshness.

STEWART FRANCIS EASTON (B. 1976, United Kingdom) graduated from Coventry University in 2009, receiving MA Illustration and Animation. Since then Easton has had a number of solo shows both in the UK and USA. He has also been involved in numerous group shows in the UK and USA. His work is part of private collections in the UK and Internationally.
Easton also has a client list including Penguin books, Domino Records, English Folk Dance and Song Society, Nevada Museum of Modern Art, Barrington Stoke, Working Titles Films
Stewart Francis Easton lives and works in London, UK.
Breaking the traditional boundaries of craft, Stewart Francis Easton’s work fuses together hand embroidery, sonic art, music and meditation .

Easton has been removing the ‘storyline’ of a visual narrative by creating geometric/ graphic forms in stitch. This reassembling of his work ethic in a chance layout enables the viewer to be free of their preconceptions of story. Using a process of abstract minimal stitch he is enabling himself to create a visual reference to an ever changing pathway and reaching for a utopian form.
Easton’s stitch work blurs the lines between craft, illustration and fine art making his work dynamic and progressive and a must see.
Stewart Francis Easton is a visual storyteller based in London who works in thread, ink, paint and digital media.
